Schneider Electric Control Expert Function Block Diagram (FBD) Rendering Now Supported!

We have exciting news to share with all our Schneider Electric Control Expert users! We are happy to announce that Copia now supports the rendering of Control Expert Function Block Diagrams (FBDs).

Based on user feedback and requests, we have expanded our Control Expert support to include this popular language.  Having the ability to view FBD in its native graphical format should greatly simplify the process of reviewing and debugging code.  In addition, code commenting is provided, which allows you to add comments to the graphical diagrams as well.

We hope that this new feature will help our users design, create, review and deploy their control systems more efficiently.  For more information about our Control Expert support, please visit our Documentation.

Manually exclude DeviceLink Projects from sitewide backup schedules

Copia DeviceLink makes it easy to set up automated backups quickly for an entire Site using a sitewide backup schedule. Instead of manually scheduling backups for each of your Copia Projects one by one, the sitewide backup schedule applies a single schedule to every Project in a Site. However, there are plenty of reasons why you might want to exclude certain Projects from a schedule - perhaps a line is undergoing maintenance, or a device is awaiting a firmware upgrade.

That’s why DeviceLink now gives you the option to exclude Projects from a sitewide backup schedule. To exclude a Project, open the detail view and activate the “Exclude from Sitewide Backup Schedule” toggle (shown in the image above).

We know that case-by-case exclusions such as these may make it difficult to remember whether you have configured your automated backups as expected. That’s why we’ve also added a visual label to Projects that are not currently associated with any scheduled job, including sitewide schedules (shown in the image below). This label makes it easier to see which of your Projects are not configured for automated backup at a glance.

Thank you and please reach out with any questions - we are always here to help and look forward to continually improving our product and your user experience!

Introducing Improved Enterprise User Management Support

Copia already has many fine-grained user and permissions management features, including the ability to set user roles on a team level, integrate with SSO providers, and just-in-time user provisioning. However, we heard from many of our enterprise users that they wanted the ability to manage team and role assignments directly from an Identity Provider, such as Azure Entra ID. That’s why we are excited to announce improved user management support for enterprises using SCIM-based identity providers.

With Directory Sync support, Copia customers can now integrate their SCIM-capable identity provider to assign users to Copia teams based on Identity Provider groups. We have also added support for enabling “single-role teams”, which is an organization-wide setting that requires all members of a Copia team to have the same role.

Taken together, these features mean that user provisioning, team mapping, and role mapping can all be done in Copia by a SCIM-capable identity provider. Read more about connecting Directory Sync to Copia and using single-role teams in our documentation.

New in Copia: Rockwell PanelView HMI Backup is Here!

We're thrilled to announce that Copia now supports Rockwell's PanelView HMI backup. This new DeviceLink integration allows users to back up the runtime files for their PanelView HMIs that were developed in the FactoryTalk View Studio ME IDE. This update is a direct result of your feedback, and we're excited to deliver a feature that helps you protect your critical HMI projects.

Here's what you can expect with this new support:

  • Peace of mind with disaster recovery: Say goodbye to worries about losing your PanelView HMI projects. Copia securely backs them up, so you can quickly restore them if needed.
  • Change tracking: See which items in your FactoryTalk View ME projects have been modified with project-item level change detection. This helps you troubleshoot issues faster and collaborate more effectively.

This update is part of our ongoing commitment to lead the Industrial DevOps revolution. We're constantly working to improve and expand our capabilities, and your feedback plays a vital role in that process.

As always, we're here to support you. If you have any questions or need assistance with the new FactoryTalk View ME backup features, please don't hesitate to reach out to our support team. To learn more, please visit our Documentation at this link.

Happy automating!
